Moonlight Jazz Society is pleased to present vocalist and Juno nominated recording artist Karin Plato, March 6th 2026 for our third concert of the season at Jacko’s Underground Lounge. Cozy in at the Vibrant Vine’s speakeasy venue this Spring, and celebrate women in jazz.
She has performed throughout Canada and in the western USA for concert societies and at jazz festivals. She works as a composer, arranger and music educator. She has three times been nominated Canadian Jazz Vocalist of the Year at the National Jazz Awards and she is a West Coast Music Award nominee.
Karin has released nine independent recordings of jazz and blues standards and her original songs. She came to jazz almost by accident. The music she heard in her formative years was the rock and pop music of the day and the classical music she studied from a young age. She didn’t get the “jazz bug” until she was in her early 30’s and that’s when her music career really began when she made the move from central Canada to the West Coast.
Based in Vancouver, Karin leads her own ensemble performing jazz standards and originals as well as being a member of the folk/blues duo Heistek & Plato in which Karin sings and plays ukulele. Moonlight Jazz Society is honoured to host such a prolific Canadian West Coast jazz artist.
Our non-profit Society is in its third year facilitating connection between jazz artists, venues, and audiences to foster synergy in the local and provincial jazz community.
