MOONLIGHT JAZZ SERIES featuring Anna Jacyszyn

First come, first serve seating. Pizza available!

Join us at Jacko’s Underground Lounge, the Vibrant Vine’s speakeasy venue, April 5th, 2024 as the new non-profit arts’ organization Moonlight Jazz Society presents vocalist Anna Jacyszyn who with a deep respect and admiration for the great ladies of jazz that proceeded her, offers playfulness and pure joy in every performance.

With movie credits under her belt and an album “Lush Life” co-created with local bassist Bernie Addington, Jacyszyn is a cornerstone performer in the local jazz scene whose captivating performances are part theatre and part musical prowess. Alongside a lifetime career singing and curating jazz in the Okanagan she also spent a lot of time overseas and performed for royalty, at FIFA World & European Cups, and the Monaco & Shanghai Grand Prix.

She recently received the 2022 Fringe Award for Favourite Show with her original performance “Can I Sing a Song for You?” and offered it up last year at the Creekside Theatre in Lake Country. We are so pleased to have one of the valley’s quintessential jazz artists join MJS for the seventh concert of our inaugural series.

Moonlight Jazz Society (MJS) is a NEW non-profit focused on facilitating connection between primarily composers and arrangers, venues, and audiences to foster synergy in the local and provincial jazz community.

In its first year, MJS created an 8-concert series in partnership with the Vibrant Vine winery’s new piano room made possible by the generous contribution of Simon Nuttgens out of Naramata and other community sponsors.

Sponsors include: Wentworth Music, Coast Capri Hotel, Urban Harvest Organic Delivery, Creative Okanagan, Kelowna Community Music School, Alex Hennig, Joe Auty.

Daniel Lew is a Chinese-Canadian folk-pop artist with a mission to uplift the world. 10 years ago, he went deaf in his left ear and developed tinnitus. This trauma catalyzed his music journey. His songs have been called a self-help book due to their honest and introspective nature. He has released 3 albums, amassed over 300 performances, and has been featured by Jade Music Festival, TAIWANfest, Pancouver Magazine, and Daily Hive Vancouver. Recently, Daniel received praise from both Jacob Collier and Ed Sheeran while he was busking. Ed invited him backstage to his show where he had the opportunity to play a song and share insights about their music journeys.

In June 2023, he released his summer anthem “Alive (The Ocean Song)”. Produced by Braeden “Pockets” Rangno (Kimmortal), and featuring synth bass from Grammy Award winning producer/artist Pomo (Jon Batiste, Anderson .Paak, Mac Miller). A live performance was featured by Daily Hive Vancouver and amassed 182,000 views, and landed in rotation at UK based radio station “The Sound Lab”.

Recently, Daniel received funding from Creative BC’s Career Development program, and is recording a new album that is on pace to be released May 2024. He is supporting the release of the album with a Canadian tour.

He has a vision of increasing the representation of under-represented artists in the music industry, and is leading a team made primarily of Asian-Canadians.

Daniel is embracing the momentum of his journey and is showing no signs of slowing down.

John Paul Byrne’s Gordon Lightfoot Tribute Concerts are selling out in the Okanagan as most all performances have people raving about “how much I sound like Lightfoot” or “it’s scary how well you sing his songs.” I recently met the son of Terry Clements, Gordon Lightfoot’s Guitarist for 35 years and after hearing me sing If You Could Read My Mind, he said…

“You just sang Gordon Lightfoot better than anybody I’ve ever heard – you sounded just like him.”
