Moonlight Jazz Society presents: Jon Bentley
Join us at Jacko’s Underground Lounge, the Vibrant Vine’s speakeasy venue, May 2, 2024 for the Moonlight Jazz Society’s final concert of its second Winter Concert Series! For our grand finale MJS is proud to present Vancouver based, Juno nominated tenor saxophonist and composer, Jon Bentley!
With over 30 years of professional international experience and 30+ recordings as a leader and sideman. He has recorded and/or performed professionally in concerts with musicians/ groups such as Kenny Wheeler, Seamus Blake, Dave Douglas, Mark Helias, Brad Turner, Eddie Daniels, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Phil Dwyer’s Saxophone Summit, The Temptations, Frankie Valli, Peggy Lee Band and Metalwood. He has performed across Canada, England, and Europe and has been featured many times on CBC Radio with live and studio recordings for Tonic, The Signal, Jazzbeat, West Coast Performance, Hot Air, and Arts National. Jon is currently celebrating his brand new March 2025 album release for Cellar Music entitled “Go Ahead!”
Moonlight Jazz Society (MJS) is a NEW non-profit focused on facilitating connection between primarily composers and arrangers, venues, and audiences to foster synergy in the local and provincial jazz community.
In its second year, the Moonlight Jazz Society looks forward to supporting an amazing lineup of touring jazz artists at the Vibrant Vine’s cozy wine and meal-centred environment, and adds a Sunday series to its efforts with all ages emerging artist pop-up concerts at the French Cultural Centre in downtown Kelowna. Coffee, tea, desserts and a place to support our youth will have both series offer up different yet equally as enjoyable vibes.

Nevaeh Dyson
Nevaeh Dyson is an internationally touring, one-woman show of a singer-songwriter based in British Columbia, Canada. Known for her authenticity and heartfelt storytelling, Nevaeh weaves songs that resonate deeply, captivating audiences from her first word spoken to her last note sung. Drawing inspiration from artists like Jewel, The Barenaked Ladies, and Brandi Carlile, she brings a fresh yet timeless perspective to the alt-folk scene.
Since late 2023, Nevaeh has toured extensively across Canada and the UK, performing at renowned music festivals, intimate house concerts, and world-famous charity events. James Hay Blues Band
James Hay is an independent Canadian electric blues and slide guitarist and singer/songwriter with over thirty years experience working as a full time sideman in blues bands throughout Western Canada. These days he can be found performing as a solo blues act or fronting The James Hay Blues Band.
The James Hay Blues Band is a hard driving, swampy, delta slide, blues, jump, jive, swing and boogie trio based out of Kelowna B.C. comprised of James Hay on guitar and vocals, “Boogie Man” Blue Rooney on bass, and PJ “Like the Pyjamas” Hermann on drums.
The band brings a blend of original blues material as well as selections of vintage and modern blues standards and favourites. Kansas Lee Live!
Kansas-lee has spent over a decade honing her craft as a singer-songwriter, a journey that culminates in her latest studio album, “Ostara”. While her sound is unmistakably unique, it draws on a blend of influences, evoking the warmth of a cabin jam with the likes of Eva Cassidy, Joni Mitchell, and Susan Tedeschi.

Allen’s DIY ability and optimistic attitude have served him well. He’s scored five Top 10 hits in Canada, 2009′s “I Wanna Be Your Christmas”, 2010’s “Loving You Tonight” which was lodged in the upper reaches of the charts for more than 22 weeks. 2011’s “I Want You”, 2015’s “What You Wanted” and 2016’s “Favourite Christmas Song”!
His benchmark single “Loving You Tonight”, a lilting, sunny tune about an ideal romance, got Andrew signed to EPIC Records and helped put Andrew on tour with acts like Bruno Mars, One Republic, Andy Grammer, The Script, Train, Joshua Radin and The Barenaked Ladies… with the official music video garnering more than 4 million views and over 100,000 copies sold worldwide.

Cat Wells Blues Band
Cat Wells is a Canadian Blues artist, vocalist, song writer with ballsy vocals and expressive stage presence. Her ever flexible, near 4 octave voice has been compared to Susan Tedeschi, Beth Hart and Janis Joplin. Cat’s early mentors were Billie Holiday and Etta James. She has been honoured as Vocalist of the year twice by the Okanagan Arts Council and has been featured in Okanagan Life Magazine and Wild Life Magazine. Some of her Career highlights include support for Jeff Healey, Harpdog Brown, Trooper, Doug and the Slugs, ZZ Top and Countless others. She has released 2 CDs’ “Cat Wells Live with the Bowman Trio” and “Cat Wells – Bootleg Blues”.

A night with Ben Klick
A fun-loving, interactive storyteller – Ben Klick is the Guitar Pickin’ Gountry Music Gentleman. Ben is a guitar slinger who writes songs about life, experience, family, and relationships in a light-hearted fashion. His engaging personality has gained the attention of fans across Canada and awarded him the 2023 BC Country Music Award for “Traditional Country Artist of the Year”, along with 6 other BC Country Music Awards, and 5 International Country Music Awards to date.
Releasing a self-produced full-length album in August of 2021, and various singles to streaming platforms since, Ben’s given fans an insight into Ben’s personal life journey. He’s raised over $150,000 for his annual fundraiser in support of MS Canada, “Music Fest MS”, while also taking the time to work on his artistry as a songwriter and guitar player.
Currently residing in Nashville, TN and travelling back to his hometown in Kelowna, Ben’s got a heart for family, community, and music. Ben Klick is known to take audiences on a journey with his modern country sound mixed with a traditional twist.

Moni Funk Trio
Moni Funk Trio is an all female 70s & 80s Review Dance Band. They are a 3 piece showband that entertains with a full sound and an upbeat repertoire of songs from the sequin disco days to the synthy-pop 80s and beyond .
The band consists of Monica Tracey on Lead Vocals and Keyboard, LeAnne Proteau on Vocals, Harmonica and Percussion, and Wendy Aronyk on Saxophone, Flute, Vocals and Percussion. These attractive ladies have been filling venues with their amazing stage presence and energetic following for the past decade.
The Out Seer
The Out Seer is a unique alt-rock indie band comprised of Ashley Pearce (vocals/guitar), Amanda Chan (vocals/keys), Davis Yates (guitar), Lachlan Tocher (bass), and Aybars Savat (drums). The band members first met while studying music at Selkirk College in Nelson, British Columbia, where they formed lasting bonds and friendships. After graduation, life’s twists and turns brought them all to Vancouver, where they continued to collaborate on various projects until Ashley finally rallied the group to focus on creating original music together as four-piece.
The Out Seer’s fifth member, pianist Amanda Chan, entered the fold more recently. Aybars and Ashley initially connected with Amanda while teaching at a private music school as fellow instructors. The girls perform as a duo around town, blending piano, guitar, and vocal harmonies. When the band realized the magic that keys could bring to their sound, Amanda was the obvious choice to join the lineup.
Each member of The Out Seer brings unique expertise and musical perspective to the table, creating a well-rounded and dynamic group. Collectively, they hold diplomas from Selkirk College’s Contemporary Music & Technology Program, and one member holds a Bachelor of Music from UBC. Based in the Greater Vancouver Area, they are an active and versatile ensemble, balancing a variety of gigs, recording sessions, and other musical projects out of their home base at Apricot Music Studios.
The Out Seer has already built an impressive resume: they’ve toured the Okanagan, performed at multiple festivals, and played numerous gigs across the province and city. Their growing discography includes an EP, several singles, and they are currently hard at work on a brand-new album set for release in 2025.
