Moonlight Jazz Society presents: Karen Wiseman
Join us at Jacko’s Underground Lounge, the Vibrant Vine’s speakeasy venue, December 6th 2024 for the Moonlight Jazz Society’s third concert of its second Winter Concert Series! MJS is proud to present vocalist Karen Wiseman.
Karen is a jazz vocalist from Vernon renowned for her rich tonal variations and expressive phrasing. With a deep affinity for classic standards, she delights in uncovering and sharing the hidden gems within the Jazz tradition. Inspired by vocal greats like Peggy Lee and Julie London, Karen weaves together a repertoire that spans swing classics, soulful ballads, Latin jazz, and reimagined Broadway and pop tunes.Her performances are marked by elegance, subtlety and sophisticated arrangements, promising a delightful and diverse musical experience. Karen has performed with some of Canada’s great Jazz artists including Sean Bray, Neville Bowman, Chris Startup, Bill Coon, Mike Rud, and Michael Creber.
Moonlight Jazz Society (MJS) is a NEW non-profit focused on facilitating connection between primarily composers and arrangers, venues, and audiences to foster synergy in the local and provincial jazz community. In its second year, the Moonlight Jazz Society looks forward to supporting an amazing lineup of touring jazz artists at the Vibrant Vine’s cozy wine and meal-centred environment, and adds a Sunday series to its efforts with all ages emerging artist pop-up concerts at the French Cultural Centre in downtown Kelowna. Coffee, tea, desserts and a place to support our youth will have both series offer up different yet equally as enjoyable vibes. Taste a little bit of everything every month, show your arts’ patronage, become part of the family!

Christmas with L & JZ with Katie Fletcher
Local trio made up of two singers and a sax playing groovin melodies of pop, disco, blues, rock and jazz. Libby Coulthard (Libster) has been featured in several local bands including the successful rock group Instario. Katie D’Agosto (Fletch) the Okanagan winner of the David Foster Star search has been featured in Sista B and the Boyz and Jesse Zeman (JZ) the sunglass wearing sax player who can play a tune to any song and been given high honors by Diana Krall.
This varied trio comes together seamlessly and brings fun to the music.
Sista B & The Boys Christmas Edition!
Sista B & the Boyz is one of the Okanagan’s most energetic and popular bands. Featuring the powerful yet soulful voice of Barbara Samuel (aka “Sista B”), the band moves seamlessly from Funk to Soul to Rock and Roll.
They are always a crowd favourite, whether performing old classics or the latest hits. The band’s live performances cover all genres and reach all generations.
Christmas with Neveah Dyson & Bran Sanders
Both Bran Sanders and Nevaeh Dyson are singer/songwriters who centre their shows around storytelling and genuine connection.
The folk duo will be coming together to celebrate the holiday season with a variety of wintertime covers, some cozy originals, and a chance for everyone to laugh and unwind with some company during what can be such a busy time of year.
Bran’s songs use wordplay and wit, and question the subtleties of human nature observed throughout his travels. There’s a rawness to his style that is extraordinary to see live. Nevaeh’s music is centred around openness and sincerity. Her songs paired with her unique playing style and powerful lyrics create her truthfully quirky and dynamic sound. Since starting music full-time in 2023, she’s toured nationwide and throughout the UK, playing top-rated venues and festivals alongside world-famous charity events. Bran on the other hand has been travelling and playing music for over a decade. Expect to be immersed in not only their holiday covers (with a twist) such as River, Baby It’s Cold Outside, and Let It Snow but have both artists draw you into the authentic enjoyment their original music brings. Bran and Nevaeh’s co-written songs are relatable and silly, highlighting that differences of opinion and human error can be funny and full of love if given the chance- something that everyone needs to remind themselves of during the holidays! Not only that, but you’ll get to listen to their heartwarming variety of music on a multitude of different instruments, such as acoustic guitar, mandolin, banjo, harmonica, and more. Both songwriters take any opportunity to perform, as they truly love what they do, and the connection their music provides with each individual in the audience is always the core of it.
'Mr. and Mrs. Strauss Duo'
Norm and Lee Strauss are true storytellers.
As a solo concert and recording artist Norm Strauss has toured extensively, telling stories through spoken word and song in Canada, Europe and the USA. He has recorded fifteen full-length projects and performed on numerous TV shows including The Voice’. His concerts have been described as a “journey of the heart” accompanied by world class finger-style guitar, vocals and storytelling.
Lee Strauss is a USA Today best-selling cozy mystery author and a co-author of classic westerns with her husband Norm. Performing as Mr. & Mrs. Strauss, Lee adds warm bass lines with her unique Kala rubber string bass guitar and complimentary backing vocals.
Join us for a heartwarming evening of Christmas-themed folk music and storytelling, featuring this talented duo. With harmonies that shine as brightly as the season’s lights, they’ll take you on a musical journey through cherished holiday classics, original songs, and captivating stories that celebrate the magic and wonder of Christmas.

MJS is proud to present pianist, composer, and arranger Stu Goldberg. Stu has a history of innovation, beginning with John McLaughlin in the legendary Mahavishnu Orchestra and continuing with Wayne Shorter, Freddie Hubbard, Al DiMeola, Larry Coryell, Alphonse Mouzon, Bllly Cobham and Jack Bruce as well as his own recordings and concerts.
“Goldberg turns the piano inside out. ”His film and TV scores have grander awards and entertained audiences worldwide for decades including scores for CBC’s “The Amazing Race”, the soundtrack for “The Firekeepers” and dozens of films and documentaries. MJS is honoured to present him and have him frequent the keys in our house band.
